Clear and lighter coloured (think pastel) prisms throw out disco ball like glimmers. Darker coloured prisms (like primary colours) give off glimmers that are a similar colour. For example, a deep red prism will have red glimmers. Iridescent or Aurora Borealis\/AB style prisms cast multicoloured glimmers.
